| Conteúdo: | ABSTRACT: The microbial biomass, respiration and their derivative indexes are proposed as indicators of the state and changes of the soil organic matter. This document presents basic information about these indicators and the two methodologies most used for C-microbial biomass determinations, the fumigation-incubation and the fumigation-extraction methods. The basic principles behind these methods, advantages, disadvantages and limitations are discussed. As then main objective of this review, recent results from research in this field developed at the Embrapa Cerrados are presented. |
