Description: ABSTRACT: The mangaba (Hancornia speciosa Gomes.), Apocynaceae family, is a native fruit of wide spread occurrence in Brazil, especially in the Cerrado Region. This species has great economic, ecological e social potential, since is much appreciated by the local populations as fresh fruits, juices, icecream, fruit-jelly and liqueur.During 2002, the fungus Fusarium solani Mart. (Sacc.) was consistently isolated from infected mangaba plants and seedlings as well, with root rot symptoms in Federal District, Brazil. Pathogenicity tests under greenhouse conditions and subsequent isolations of F. solani from artificially inoculated mangaba seedlings confirmed the hypothesis that this fungus was the incitant.
