Description: ABSTRACT: The no-till and conventional cropping systems, which involve low and high soil disturbance, could affect the number and nature of native arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi species in the soil. These, on the other hand, determine the contribution of arbuscular mycorrhiza on crop responses to used inputs and on the efficiency of the planting system itself, as they have different efficiency levels towards the same host plant. Though, the same total number of species and the same species themselves of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, were observed in the no-till and conventional cropping systems. Nevertheless, the no-till system practice is recommended, as the mycorrhizal external mycelium, developed during the former cropping, is preserved and stimulates the rapid plant root colonization and response of the following crop. e.
