Description:	RESUMO: O local selecionado para este estudo foi a bacia hidrográfica do Lago do Descoberto, com uma área de drenagem de 42.021,4 ha. Teve a finalidade de caracterizar e mapear o alto curso da bacia hidrográfica do Lago, pertencente à Área de Proteção Ambiental da Bacia do Rio Descoberto, DF/GO (A PA do Descoberto), na escala de 1:100.000 para subsidiar o projeto desenvolvido pela UnB em parceria com a Embrapa Cerrados: Integração de dados de geologia ambiental, de engenharia florestal e de política social aplicados ao estudo de assoreamento da represa do Descoberto, Distrito Federal. Foram caracterizadas 99 unidades de mapeamento: LATOSSOLO VERMELHO-AMARELO representando 36,58% da bacia; LATOSSOLO VERMELHO, 34,09%; CAMBISSOLO 13,8%; GLEISSOLO HÁPLICO 3,38%; GLEISSOLO MELÂNICO 1,58%; PLINTOSSOLO 1,11%; NEOSSOLO FLÚVICO 0,50%; NITOSSOLO HÁPLICO 0,24%; NEOSSOLO QUARTZARÊNIO 0,17%; espelho d'água 3,00% e área Urbana 5,54%da bacia. ABSTRACT: The place selected for this study was up stream of the Descoberto River, with an area of drainage of 42.021,4 ha. This study had the purpose to characterize and to map high course of the Descoberto River, belonging to the Area of Environmental Protection of the Basin of the Descoberto River - DF/GO (APA of the Descoberto) , in the scale of 1:100.000 to subsidize the project developed by UnB in partnership with Embrapa Cerrados: Integration of data of environmental geology, of forest engineering and of applied social politics to the study of sedimentation od the dams of the Descoberto. In this study were characterized 99 units of mapping: LATOSSOLO VERMELHO representing 34,09% of the area; LATOSSOLO VERMELHO-AMARELO 36,58%; NITOSSOLO HÁPLICO 0,24%; CAMBISSOLO 13,8%; NEOSSOLO QUARTZARÊNIO 0,17%;GLEISSOLO HÁPLICO 3,38%; GLEISSOLO MELÂNICO 1,58%; PLINTOSSOLO 1,11%; NEOSSOLO FLÚVICO 0,50%; espelho d'água 3,00% and Urban area 5,54% of the basin.
