| Conteúdo: | The largest number of varieties of the genus Anacardium is found in northeastern Brazil. For reason Johnson (I973) considered that Cami sum was where the cashew ongmated. Now about 98% of cultivated cashew is grown in the north-east Brazil (Paula Pessoa er al., I995). 111 B11111, lbcfc 8rc two groups of cashew. The most prevalent is the common type (glint). ftlhich grows to heights ranging from 5 to 8 m, but able to reach l5 m. of the crown generally varies from l2 to 14 I11 and, in exceptional cases ts up to 20 m (Barns, 1995). The other group, the dwarf cashewsgmwupto4m,onaverage, withacrown diameterof6to8 rn. This group ofdwarfcashew flowers between 6 and 18 months (Barros et al., 1998). |
