Description: This publication presents and evaluates two methods for ex-ante analysis of the optimum number of recipient females in embryo transfer programs. The first method is determinist, based on algebraic deduction, while the second is based on stochastic simulation using a Monte Carlo method for generating the number of embryos in each collection. The results show that the deterministic method sustainability overestimate the biologic efficiency of the embryo transfer program and underestimate, consequently, the cost per pregnancy (up to 9,1%). The superiority of the stochastic simulations was more pronounced when considering high variability in the number of embrios produced, reduced number of donnors ana low cost per recipient.
